Scholarship Cup

The Triangle Scholarship Cup was presented to Triangle by Founder Arthur Schwerin ill07 in support of his belief that any college organization must be based primarily upon excellence in scholarship if it is to survive and succeed. It is awarded annually to the chapter that has the highest scholastic record during the preceding year. The original cup was destroyed in a fire at the Purdue Chapter house October 28, 1932.

The chapters below have won temporary custody of the cup and their names and years are engraved on the trophy. In recent years a certificate has been awarded so that a chapter has permanent evidence of its scholastic achievement. The years in parentheses indicate the school year during which the high scholarship was achieved.

In 1974, the Triangle Fraternity Education Foundation purchased a new Scholarship Cup for the Fraternity. The cup it replaced had no space left for engraving the names of winning chapters. Because Purdue had won the cup more than twice as often as its nearest competitor, Penn State, the retired cup was entrusted to Purdue Chapter.
